The latest version corrects that error. Thanks for letting me know.
in reply to kersti's post:
I must be a really slow tatter because it takes me substantially longer than the time listed on each round.
Well, every tatter has their own "best" speed. It's not how long it takes, but how you feel about the finished work. And generally, as you work more pieces, you will probably get faster. Part of the speed increase is that every technique you try will get more familiar to you and you won't have to slowly decipher what is written in the pattern. Keep up the good work!

One ball of thread should be more than enough :)
in reply to LaurieE's post:
Hey Laurie :-)
I agree with @PattyD.
After so many years of tatting, I still tat at a variable speed. Tatting speed, for me, depends on various factors. I could be multitasking ; I could be tired ; the pattern may no longer appeal to me ; I might be learning a new technique/design ; pattern may become too repetitive ; not challenging enough ; ..... The
That is the reason I cannot 'time' myself. In the final analysis, as long as I am enjoying myself, the process more than even the finished product, I don't mind how long it takes :-)
The time indicated in the pattern can be taken as a ballpark figure, not as a standard or a benchmark .
happy tatting :-))
speed varies for me depending on how familiar I am with the pattern. If I can count off and1and2and3p...and2and3p I'm going faster than if I'm going and1and2and3 look at pattern p... look at pattern and2and3 recount stitches because I lost where I was...
Then again if I'm too familiar with the pattern I don't always pay enough attention to what I'm doing and I tat on past where I'm supposed to stop and have to undo some...
Finally done with round 6. Blocking after round 5 helped a lot. After this latest round I went from cupping to slight ruffling, but it'll probably turn out fine once blocked.
Round 7 Instructions are now available
As always don't forget to share your experiences and pictures - I love seeing how the projects are progressing.
Another that takes a little longer so next instruction set will be on Wednesday morning.
My mystery doily pictured with a couple of other recent projects.
I did a lot of mine and only just found out about the errata on round 6, so it will be interesting to see how mine turns out compared to others.
in reply to Fusspott's post:
Looks good Fusspott! You're so fast! I've only gotten 5 rings done so far.
in reply to Ignes's post:
Do you use a shuttle or needle? I find a needle a lot quicker and don't have much patience so I've put my shuttles to one side for now.
in reply to Fusspott's post:
I only shuttle tat. I wanted to try needle tatting a couple years ago but that failed due to the needles I ordered never arriving. :(
@muchablige
You asked - When the numbers don't match which do you follow, the written instructions or the graph?
It depends on where the mistake is! In general you ask as you did and wait for the answer (you'll get a faster answer in the discussion thread as I get an alert to new messages here)
I've updated the instructions so please download again.
I'm still following this TAL, and am so impressed by all the good work y'all are doing. Encourage, encourage, encourage all you dauntless tatters. Thanks to all the lovely doilies I've seen here, I've also decided that this will be my next project, after I finish a few WIPs. Unfortunately, that probably will not be in time for me to join in this TAL.
How's everyone going? My almost three year old is teething at the moment - her last molars and having a rotten time with them so my tatting time has been severely curtailed. Has anyone finished row six yet?
I finished round 7 and was thinking of blocking it since I had a few days before the next bit, but ended up too lazy. It's not doing any weird things and the first 5 rows have taken really well to the intermediate blocking I did, despite all the handling/folding I did when tatting round 6 and 7. Still really enjoying this project and looking forward to the next bit tomorrow :D
in reply to kersti's post:
I wound my shuttles! I finally decided to go with purple and lilac. I am here to print my pattern!
in reply to kersti's post:
Completed rounds 6 & 7. It is laying flat & nice .... behaving itself ;-P
In case you are unable to, you can always delay the posting of next round. We will understand :-)
Edit : Forgot to post pics here ...
I made a tiny tweak to Round 7 :
Was unhappy with the long 'double' chain joins. In the last 3 repeats of day 7 (towards the right in pic), I reduced the stitch count by 1 each while returning, and am very happy with the result.
So the chain now : 4-4-4-4-6-8 LJ 7+5+4-4-4-4 .
Let's see if I can bring back the brown in next 2 rounds.
