There's a mistake - New version now uploaded, I can't apologise enough for this. Must not do patterns while two toddlers are running around!
Round three completed, feeling quite chuffed with myself so far
Ahhhhh lol i gave up, thinking someone will ask it or post a Q about it, cause also thought it not right, hmmm nou bad thinking that for a newbie☺️

I guess that is what confused me. I thought it was said before we started that if you filled 1 shuttle you would be fine so I filled up my shuttle and worked off of the ball and shuttle for first round. I was trying to figure out just how much thread to pull off of the shuttle for this part and ended up short so had to start the round over again and just gave up last night. Maybe I will just watch for a while.
Thanks for trying to help. I will go do some more reading and learning. Maybe this is just a little too much for me right now.
So this is what happened in my round 3...can't figure out what I did wrong, stitch count is correct I think my joins are all correct. At least it is slanted to perfection I guess. I shall post a pic when I can get it to load properly
in reply to taryn's post:
Mine looks exactly the same way...I think that it is suppose to be a ruffled doily...when you push the rings in round 3 up...it looks like a ruffle...Really cool looking
Mine also slanted a bit. I thought it might have been not enough tension on the first chain and too much on the second. Glad I'm not alone! Maybe round 4 will pull the rings out straight.
It's not supposed to slant here - this is a good example of what you should have after round three

i am enjoying the tatting and. Have some tatting questions but first, I have some Craftree questions. Is there a help section? I can't see me to find my at around, it doesn't feel very intuitive to me. I think I have this in my projects, but how do I put pictures. When I listed this in my account, is there a at to put it in so that I can click on it and it will be bring me to the tat a long page. I see. Van put a picture in this post, but this is. It where the pictures are being posts. This is my first Craftree experience.
Hi Sharon here's a quick overview of Craftree. The general advice is poke around, see what's here -you can't break it!
Here's a help page for projects
If you have specific questions after that we have a whole forum that may have answers and where you can ask.
I am a bit behind - I had chosen some size 40 thread, but then realized I will probably not have enough - so I need to choose some thread I have more of, and fill shuttles and start...
in reply to Fusspott's post:
that looks so great. Mine doesn't lay that flat unless I block it. Did you block yours?
in reply to skispinner's post:
I did block it skispinner, I get easily disheartened and am likely to give up if I can't see a good result so block it after every round before taking a photo.
in reply to taryn's post:
Hi Taryn, My round three slanted a bit too. I like to think of it as "italicized" ;)
This is a chain only row but should take approximately 2 hours so the next instalment will be on Sunday morning.
Please keep posting your photos - I'm loving seeing them all and it really really helps others to see.
Also remember to post any questions you have here!
Oh I should point out - I announce here first, announcements to other places is at least an hour later!
Ok, I'm a little behind- I'm moving house and trying to get a baby blanket crocheted in time for a friends' baby shower tomorrow...not looking like it will be done in time...Anyone know how to make time????
Anyhow, I did round 1 no problem. At the end of round one it says to join to the base of the first ring- is there a specific way to do this?
Also do I need to cut the thread and re-tie the ball and shuttle thread to start round 2?
@heledd there are some things that are more important than tatting! Make sure this is a stress relief and not a stress creator for you.
Here's a useful video on closing a flower with a folded join.
To start round 2 (and other rounds) you can refill your shuttle and start with continuous thread method, or tie threads together - up to you which you prefer. You shouldn't be concerned about running out of thread so if you waste some it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
in reply to kersti's post:
Thanks for the video, really helpful (although I cannot work out how she tats so fast with those nails!)
I still have loads of thread on my shuttle so don't really want to cut it as I hate dealing with knots in my work. I've never made a doily before so does each round start from scratch i.e. you cut the thread after finishing the previous round? I've only made stuff like earrings before which I was able to do start to finish using CTM and only cutting the thread when finished.
in reply to Heledd 's post:
That's a loaded question to which there is no real answer! ie it depends on the pattern, your experience and the phase of the moons on Jupiter.
In general, if you think you have enough thread on your shuttle to complete the next round then go ahead. Part of the fun of this is the trial and error and working out how things work for you
