MESSAGE FROM @Canarithy
I just got an email from Cathy about mailing instructions. Copy/pasting the same below :

"When you send your squares, please send them as a usual LETTER, NOT registered, NO special envelop, because normal letters are not suspected to contain drug and so it arrives more easily and quicker. "

Yikes! I couldn't mail mine in a regular envelope. I used a padded mailer. I'll be devastated if they don't arrive on time. :(

Thanks for the update, Muskaan. I won't get a chance to try either new square until Saturday. I'll be manning the door of our shop handing out discount flyers to shoppers, so I'll get a lot of public tatting done then. Your two squares are at the top of my "To Do' list. :)

I've prepared a padded envelope, too, containing squares from the Happy Tatters group as well. But since it is going by courier, I'm hoping there won't be a problem. I asked her immediately, but am waiting for her reply. I still have a couple of days before mailing, thankfully.
All the very best. We don't want our effort to go waste. However, it's my feeling that a few days delay won't really matter. She'll already have plenty to start sewing.

I sent mine registered post because I’ve lost tatting in the post before. Ordinary envelope. It arrived fine, phew.

Hmm.... I'm not sure a "standard" envelope is going to work, because I have too many to send! Shuttlebirds Tatting Guild members have contributed 110 squares to date (just got 50 from a member in Montana, yesterday) that I promised to mail off at my own cost. I'll ask at the Post Office what they recommend as being the least suspicious.

Here are the 46 squares I'll be sending tomorrow afternoon:

16 of Caranithy's orignial design and 15 each of two other squares

Cathy put up a photo of all the packages she received yesterday - I think I see mine among them! I'm looking forward to seeing what the final count is and whether we reached the goal. Everyone did a fantastic job! If she receives that many packages every day until March 1st... I'm hopeful!

@muskaan I got a chance to test tat your two new squares - love them! the instructions are easy to follow and they came out the perfect size in Lizbeth size 20. I may send in another little packet of squares Monday and see if I can get them in on time... Thank you for sharing your design genius!

I've also been test tatting squares from various antique books, of which I have a pretty good collection. I've come up with two so far that fit the criteria, one from Anne Orr's "Tatting, Book No. 35" and another from J&P Coats' "Tatting, Book No. 183". I'll try to get those pdfs done by this weekend. :)

My envelop is there, too ! I finally sent in 65 squares (55 of Cathy's & the rest in 3 of my patterns). It's the plastic pink envelop on top left. I also sent in 126 squares from the 'Happy Tatters' group ( Usha Shah's), some of those were original patterns..
I got 24 more squares from a member of the same group, but it reached me late. I was asked to send it along by ordinary post (keeping fingers crossed). These 24 are 6 original patterns from the tatter and we've convinced her to share her patterns :-)

Glad you found the squares and patterns easy to follow, Leigh . First time I tried this layout & format. I only have the one ball in Lizbeth 20 which I am saving for my pattern conversions in this manner (if only I had bought white or a bold colour. ;-P). However I do believe 3 strands of Anchor embroidery thread is the same as Lizbeth 20, since a Pony bobbin winds 8m of each. I still have to compare tatted models.

Looking forward to your new adaptations ! I intend to tat All the patterns some day. They would make a nice little mat tessellated .

in reply to Tim's post:

That's great! Better get them in the mail quick, though, or they won't reach her in time. She needs a final count in order to decide which monument she intends to cover. :)

Here's an old Coats and Clark motif that I've found in two of their tatting books- #111 and #183 - with a slight variation of stitch counts. It came out the perfect dimension in Lizbeth size 20 thread:

Cathy has extended the deadline to March 30 in hopes of reaching more tatters. She's been getting a lot of messages from people who've heard about it too late to participate. She estimates she is going to reach 3,000 by March 1st.

I don't have much of an online presence. If anyone has any ideas on getting the word spread to more participants, here's your chance!
