Shall I start with this one and create more WIP and UFO's? Oh my god, I just don't have enough time to tat!!!! Well, I think I will finish first at least one project, than start with this one. gives me the time to see how it progresses and which color I will choose.

WOW!! What a pretty beginning too! OK, I'm in, although, like @swissgirl I don't need another project on my list. Well, now to decide what color thread to use. I do have several new balls of thread that are just lazing around....

I've added the pattern to the catalog so projects can be attached: http://www.craftree.com/patterns/6155.

I started it last evening, after a lot of holding back (had about an hour to spare). I have my excuses ready both for beginning it and in case I do not complete it

Oh, @muskaan, ditch the excuses and get on with it. Your tatting is so precise, there's no reason for you not to finish this. I'm being encouraging, right? Not at all pushy, right?

I just printed off the pattern, but I don't think I'm tatting her doily. At least, not yet. I have an idea to make it into a snowflake, for my wedding project. Of course, that will mean tinkering a bit, as this is an octagon instead of a hexagon. But it looks doable.

I bet you could convert it to a hexagon easily, @lynn.

Round 3 already posted, gasp !

@Lynn, I like your snowflake idea. Looking forward to your working.
And thank you so much for your lovely & encouraging push ;-)
I am planning to do it in single colour - size 40 cream, using direct tatting . For first 3 rounds all frontside tatting is possible.

I did my first two rounds last night. I had some size 70, DMC thread already wound on a shuttle (it was left over from another side project I've been working on. I think it is just lovely. Not sure that I will do the whole doily in size 70. I haven't selected a thread from my stash yet. Such a hard choice.

I'm encouraged by the different look of the center. This is the first time I've seen one of her patterns with an intentional overlap. Gives it a contemporary look. Must finish my Adv. Mystery project, and do some snowflakes. first.

Judy, that was exactly what got me started on this doily !!! And unlike the previous Wiosna, where I had added a stabilising vsp to the rings, I left the central rings unjoined. I've almost completed the 3rd round, but the next round will tell if I continue or not. At present, it makes a nice little coaster .
I don't Need another round doily (of the larger doilies, 2 are already in use & one is gifted away) ; but a rectangular one I do need. So I may switch ...

@Muskaan, so you not joining the center rings? That had me stumped! OK, don't know if it will flop around or not. Was wondering how I was going to tie it off.

Eagle, I climbed out with a split ring.
And yes, without any anchoring, the center rings do flop - I had to be extra vigilant to keep them in correct sequence while linking the 2nd round to center. But I liked the slight overlap. I had used tiny picots in my 2015 Wiosna and you can see the difference in the motif without & with picot linkages.
Ultimately, it is the tatter's call.

As for tying off & hiding ends if you don't want to climb out with SR .... many options :

  1. Tie knot between tail of first ring & last ring. Then sew the ends in each ring. ( or use magic loop).

  2. In case you have already tatted over the tail of first ring, then complete last ring and cut & insert tail into base of 1st ring , then hide. This will keep the look consistent.

  3. SSSR for last ring. Miranda has a tutorial for finishing with SSSR to hide tails
There may be a few more options but my brain refuses to forage thru for some reason :-(

I will post pics of my 3 rounds tomorrow.

I chose to tie off and found it helpful to actually loop the thread end through the base of the first ring before knotting off. This helps maintain the slight overlap and the sequencing when attaching the next round.

The second round secures the central rings nicely, I thought. The overlapping of the rings is what got my attention too. It looked very intentional to me. I made sure to maintain that overlap when I pressed the doilies after the third round. Yup, you heard me right, I have gone off the deep end. I now have three Renulek's Spring 2016 Doilies going.

@elfiona, I understand. This is such a neat design, it's hard to resist, especially when you have such pleasing colors. My favorite of the three is the varigated blue. Every knot is in place and it just seems to glow!

Here's mine, though the colors are a bit washed out in the photo (for comparison, it's on a black background, but that appears grey). http://craftree.com/projects/2907

I wish I thought to tie off like you did. I just tried to keep the same spacing at the base of the rings. I did notice that the beginning and ending rings needed some pulling and tugging to get them to behave.
