I was really nervous about doing it, but the doily is finished, complete with insertion. Since I've never done an insertion like this before, I followed Norma's suggestions in the pattern of adding the medallion with the buttonhole stitch. A Google search provided instructions for making the stitch. There was no going back once I started the stitching, but I still felt some hesitation at cutting the fabric. Have just been to your project to take a look. Brava for picking the brave option!! It looks wonderful. Just as Norma B. intended. And now you will have to host an elegant tea party...
@tatknot, We all experience that feeling before cutting.
Great work!
Ah, envy... time to wish I had a daughter to gift me with something like that.
Progress post: Down to the last 5 "outstanding" rings. May finish this weekend.
Mine is sidetracked and relegated to WIP Wednesday. Someday I'll find my enthusiasm for it again, but there's too much happening right now. Meantime, the new doily by Renulek has my attention.

I understand, amysperch. Most of my tatting is done because I enjoy the creating of it. When I'm tatting it as a gift or have a specific deadline for some reason, I'm more motivated to finish. I'm really excited about WIP Wednesdays. It provides some extra encouragement to finish some of those Unfinished Objects (UFOs).
Well, this is not another Mystery tat yet. I'm chuffed... its been a long time since I uncovered a genuine Norma Benporath pattern in my Trove work. There it was... way at the bottom of the article... "by Norma Benporath". After correcting the scan, I'll post a link here and see ..
